Valentine's Day Promise

Couples not fighting about Facebook sightings together they are under dim lighting. Making promises to be true, pledging to do The Do. But reality will be here tomorrow and someone will experience sorrow. Reflecting on a night, when there was no fight. Told to make good on what was said, words sealed up on top of a bed. Old arguments return, relationship set to burn. A lover loses memory, doesn't recall. Willing to take yet another fall. Nothing is new, there is no, "I love you too." Unforgiveness looms, no jumping a broom. Until one knows what he or she wants to do, there will be no one saying, "I do." Nicholl McGuire

Dating Poem: More than Meets the Eye

So few of you many more of them, you need to be with someone who isn't enjoying sin. One had me jumping for joy, didn't play me like a toy. Boy, oh boy! He was that one they said, "Ain't right, and he look white." But that was alright. Look I have been there, done that... just sat and sat. Brothers passed me by, said goodbye, and one left me to die. Been on the other side too, where I was one of the few. That one lied and I just cried. "Life is what you make it," so they say, but many still have no wedding day. They say, "It's okay...something good will happen today." Yeah right, okay. Look at you, what to do? What is your view? What do you desire? Who will ignite your fire? Why won't love last? Has a lot to do with the past. Keep waiting, keep dating before long one will be mating. Then what will he do, lose love and sue? What will she do, find another to view? Temporary fixes, for modern...

Is She His One?

Image
I think I will leave it up to the man to see allow him to stare, to really view me. Tired of laughing at silly, boring things-- more interested in looking at some rings. Tired of pretending that I am the best, tired of failing each and every test. "Listen we all have our issues, you know better. Just state some promises in a letter. You promise to be better than the last. You promise that you won't move too fast. You promise that you will love me now, You promise you won't throw in the towel..." Relationship advice now it will entice. Makes you want to learn more, especially for a heart left sore. But back to the man that watches me, hopes he accepts the woman beyond what he sees. For I have a long history complete with much misery. Men don't hold my attention for long, don't believe in any tired love song. Won't be the one who will fall head over heels in love, don't respond to men who like to scream and shove. He is a ...

Poem: The Phone Call

Promises to call day one passes day two drags day three? Still no call. Why put the anxious on hold? Reaching out only to catch a dial tone. Thinking of someone isn't enough. Calling means so much more! What does it take to make the blind see? A perfect chance for romance may be lost. If only the call had been made... a later regret. The ultimatum, choices pick dial speak or be disconnected. Nicholl McGuire, Poet, Author, Blogger and Internet Content Producer. For more of her work, visit this site.

Funny How Time Flies: A Tale of A Sour Relationship

Crinkle in the middle of your forehead like an accordion. Dragging your feet, a sound like someone sweeping the floor. As you carry your half-broken heart from yesteryear's loves. Head turned to the left as you pass me by Careful not to look my way. Hoping I can't see what you are thinking. You don't like me. But if you closely look into my glaring eyes, you would see I don't like you. I am settling, standing on your empty promises. When I speak, you are annoyed as you take your seat. It's only a commercial. "What?" You say. "Nothing." I retort. I really don't like you! That's why I hold my nose as you sigh. Hoping I don't smell your breath. It's stale, old just like this relationship. Please don't exhale, keep that to yourself! It's not like anything will change! You will just stink up the atmosphere like you always do then find a way to blame me. What happened to the young guy I once knew anyway? He was full of life. Fre...
