When it comes to finding the right person to date, location can play a major role. According to the US Census Bureau, there are certain states that have larger populations of single men and women than others. Based on data from 2019, Washington D.C., Alaska, New York, and Hawaii had the highest percentage of singles among those 18 years old and over. On the flip side, North Dakota had the lowest percentage of single people in the 18+ category. Although these numbers can provide a better understanding of where to find potential dates, they don't tell the whole story. Singleness has different root causes depending on individual circumstances. For example, some singles choose not to date for religious reasons while others may be too busy at work or school to focus on their dating life.
